Pilgrims to Compostela carried a scallop: proof on the road, souvenir at the shrine, mark of return in the parish.
The shell is legal, devotional, and later touristic. Those offices should stay named.
A living walker may still wear one. That does not baptize the Camino as the hero’s journey of Europe.
Can one object serve destination and return without making them the same act?
